What you already hold
Optional. Put in the sum assured of the cover you already have, kind by kind, and the figure above becomes your gap. Extra cover of one kind does not pay for another, so each is subtracted on its own.
Sum assured, or fund value?
The sum assured is what a policy pays out on a claim. The fund value is what a savings-linked plan has built up so far; it is savings, not cover. Your policy documents show both. Use the sum assured, and for a group plan through work, count it but remember it ends when the job does.

Where to start
Almost nobody closes the whole gap at once, and I would be wary of anyone who says you should. Usually the debt and the illness cover come first: they are the parts that hurt soonest. Sometimes the right move is to clear a loan rather than buy anything.

How the figure is worked out
Life cover is sized from what you give. Illness and disability are sized from what you earn, because a diagnosis stops the income while the bills go up.
| Component | Arithmetic | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Income support | monthly × 12 × years × your share | — |
| Debts outstanding | the balance, as you enter it | — |
| Immediate bills | funeral, estate, first months | ₱500,000 |
| Life cover | the three above, rounded | at least ₱1,000,000 |
| Education fund | children × ₱1,500,000 | up to 4 children |
| Critical illness | monthly income × 24 | ₱1M to ₱10M |
| Disability | monthly income × 12 × 5 | up to ₱15M |
Your share is 1.00 if you are the main earner, 0.60 if you share it, 0.35 if you help out, and 0 if nobody depends on you. These are planning conventions, not laws: argue with any of them, in a conversation or with the free guide.
Bring the number to a conversation
Half an hour, no cost, nothing sold on the call. We subtract what you hold and look at two or three ways to close part of the gap.
